Subjects & Courses
There are six different DP subject groups, and within each subject group, there are a number of different courses. Students make their particular selections based on a variety of factors. Each student will take at least three (but not more than four) courses at a higher level (HL), and the remaining at standard level (SL). At Kolej Tunku Kurshiah, we generally recommend most students take three HL and three SL subjects.
HL and SL courses differ in scope but are measured according to the same grade descriptors, with students expected to demonstrate a greater body of knowledge, understanding and skills at a higher level.
Standard level subjects take up 150 teaching hours, while higher-level courses comprise 240 teaching hours.
At IBDPTKC, we offer the following courses:
A range of courses focusing on the analysis and interpretation of literary texts. Includes Malay A: Literature (SL/HL)
Courses designed to develop proficiency in an additional language. Includes English B (SL/HL)
A diverse group of subjects exploring human behavior, society, and culture. Includes History (SL/HL) and Business Management (SL/HL)
